چکیده

the Stokes' equation (4). The anomalous appearance of the curves might suggest that a non-random sample had been selected, but examination of the frequencies of cells appearing in different size ranges reveals a normal distribution indicating that a random sample had been selected. The diameters of cells and the correspondent frequencies are: 3.5-2; 4.0-7; 4.5-10; 5.0-20; 5.5-17; 6.0-8; 6.5-2; and 7.0-1. Correlation studies revealed a high degree of correlation between volumes and weights, indicating a high degree of accuracy of the observations. The weight of each cell was calculated by multiplying its volume by its density as determined independently by experiment. Had all individual volumes been multiplied by the average density, then correlation would automatically be complete, but since densities of individual cells were calculated by a series of independent and unrelated observations and measurements, a coefficient of correlation approaching 1 is indicative of the accuracy of the different measuremen.ts. Spot diagrams of weights and densities and of volumes and densities did not reveal a high degree of correlation, although there is some indication that the larger, and hence heavier, cells are less dense than the smaller, lighter cells.

Gamma-Ray Induced Mutants 14/20 and 79/20 of Aspergillus niger Increases Citric Acid Production from Molasses and Pumpkin

Among the various fungal strains screened for citric acid production, Aspergillus niger is known to produce considerable amounts of citric acid and other organic acids when cultivated in carbohydrate-rich medium of fermentation. A number of indigenous raw materials such as cane molasses and pumpkin have been carried out in present study for citric acid production by using gamma ray induced muta...

Citric Acid Fermentation by Aspergillus niger on Low Sugar Concentrations and Cotton Waste.

The possible use of cotton waste as a carbohydrate source of citric acid production by Aspergillus niger was examined. No citric acid was produced when A. niger was grown on cotton waste as a sole carbon source. In two-stage fermentations, however, mycelium obtained from surface cultures in cotton waste medium yielded more citric acid when transferred to sucrose-containing media than when direc...

Optimization of Citric Acid Production Using Aspergillus niger Isolated from the Leaf Litter Soil of Sathuragiri Hills

Soil samples were collected from the different locations in Sathuragiri Hills (Western Ghats, Tamilnadu). The Total Fungal Counts in the soil samples of the different locations were analyzed. The percentage frequencies of occurrence of fungal isolates are identified. The fungal isolates were identified based on the morphological and cultural characteristics they were identified as Cladosporium ...

Expression of the Aspergillus terreus itaconic acid biosynthesis cluster in Aspergillus niger

BACKGROUND Aspergillus terreus is a natural producer of itaconic acid and is currently used to produce itaconic acid on an industrial scale. The metabolic process for itaconic acid biosynthesis is very similar to the production of citric acid in Aspergillus niger. However, a key enzyme in A. niger, cis-aconitate decarboxylase, is missing. The introduction of the A. terreus cadA gene in A. niger...

Advances in citric acid fermentation by Aspergillus niger: biochemical aspects, membrane transport and modeling.

Citric acid is regarded as a metabolite of energy metabolism, of which the concentration will rise to appreciable amounts only under conditions of substantive metabolic imbalances. Citric acid fermentation conditions were established during the 1930s and 1940s, when the effects of various medium components were evaluated. The biochemical mechanism by which Aspergillus niger accumulates citric a...

STUDY of the INFLUENCE of NUTRIENTS on CITRIC ACID PRODUCTION by Aspergillus niger UNDER SOLID STATE FERMENTATION USING RICE CHAFF and SESAMUM OIL CAKE as SUBSTRATE

Abstract: The main aim of this study is to investigate about citric acid production by ETGP12 and ETGP18 strains of Aspergillus niger with the inclusion of certain nutrients along with the substrates. The substrates (rice chaff and sesamum oil cake) were fermented in the presence of different nutrients like ammonium carbonate and potassium dihydrogen phosphate at concentrations ranging from 0.1...
